The Young People

As you are all aware, the increase in drinking and drugs in the young people of Derry is getting out of hand. Im talking about children as young as 11 here, not the usual 16 and 17 year olds.
I can't help but think that if the young people of Derry had somewhere to spend their free time at the weekends and it was somewhere that would keep them entertained then their boredom would not lead to more destructive options.
For example, I know people are harping on about this new footbridge that we dont need and its getting tiresome. But they are right. If the money for this was used to provide a large complex of entertainment/arena facilities in the likes of Fort George or Ebrington Barracks - this would not only give children a productive and safe place to go but would also provide jobs and create a unique business opportunity for the city by bringing in custom from surrounding areas and also help bring different sides of the community together.
I am in my mid-twenties and it concerns me that the young people are being slated for behaving disruptively - but we should stop and think : What are we doing to help them? Where are their parents and why are they not being held accountable when the police land at their front door with their drunk 13 year old?
We need to protect and secure the young people of this city if they are going to be the ones who are leading us in the future.

Why have primary school children not been given a voice????
Secondary schools are the only ones given a voice primary school children are the future of this city and need to have an input
